in the last week of June, we made a significant impact at the World Passenger Forum (WPF) 2024 in Vienna with our presentation on OSDM. Represented by our dynamic duo, Mike Reumer and Julie Stroobants, benerail’s presence was both impactful and memorable.
Our core message was clear: OSDM works!
We highlighted our progress with the Open Sales and Distribution Model (OSDM). For example, we developed the connection with S3 Sqills in 5 months, demonstrating OSDM’s efficiency. Making additional OSDM connections in the future will take you even less time. Besides that, we have noticed over the last few months that OSDM gives everyone a common language and a leg up in building connections.
The benefits of OSDM
Our benerail community needs OSDM to solve several challenges and fulfil needs:
- Expanding our platform with new and existing railway companies at low cost.
- Broader distribution of SNCB and NS products across Europe.
- Uniform sales and after-sales processes across all railway companies.
- Offering a universal rail ticket for seamless travel.
OSDM is a main part of the CER ticketing roadmap and our own ambitions. We aim to create a unified platform that connects distributors, retailers, and carriers to enhance distribution and provide customers with a seamless travel experience. The value lies in this collaborative effort, benefiting all parties involved. By leveraging the OSDM standard, we believe we can achieve this goal effectively.
strategic insights and partnerships
Our colleagues actively participated in several key sessions, gaining unique insights. For instance, Trip.com’s discussion on the impact of rail liberalisation on European ticketing retailers provided valuable perspectives. Similarly, GoVolta’s focus on affordable day trips over nighttrains offered a fresh take on travel preferences.
One of the most insightful sessions was by NS and SNCB, where they shared their strategy for growing the Brussels—Amsterdam route and developing a dynamic pricing capability. As a key provider of the distribution system for NS and SNCB, we played a significant role in this project, particularly in our OSDM connection with S3 Sqills. a memorable journey
benerail’s participation was not just about the presentations and sessions. The team also had the opportunity to network with rail colleagues, explore innovative products, and celebrate their 20-year journey. The highlight was the Nightjet experience, which added a touch of adventure to the event.
benerail’s presence at WPF 2024 showcased our dedication to innovation, collaboration, and the future of rail travel. We look forward to continuing this journey and contributing to a more connected and sustainable transport network.
